Calculators

Fast calculators for math, finance, physics, chemistry, electronics, and planning.

Explore 102 free calculators, including AC Power Calculator, Acceleration Calculator, Age Calculator, Angular Acceleration Calculator, and more.

Choose the right tool

Start with the question you need answered, then choose a calculator whose inputs match the information you actually have. A percentage change, a profit margin, and a discount all use percentages, but their denominators differ. Likewise, a physics formula is only useful when its assumptions describe the situation. Keep units consistent and check a simple case before relying on a larger calculation.

Worked example: compare a sale price

  1. For an item priced at 80 with a 25% discount, calculate 80 × 0.25 = 20 saved. The discounted price is 60.
  2. If 10% sales tax applies to the discounted amount, calculate 60 × 0.10 = 6. The final cost is 66, assuming there are no additional charges.
  3. Compare the final cost with your alternative, using the same tax and shipping assumptions. Adding the two percentages together would give the wrong result because they apply to different amounts.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • A rise from 80 to 100 is 25%; a fall from 100 to 80 is 20%. The starting value changes the denominator.
  • Displayed precision does not make an estimate more certain. Finance calculations may omit fees and taxes; scientific models may omit losses or changing conditions. Read the selected tool's assumptions.
