Age Calculator
Find completed years, months, days, total days, and next birthday.
Enter a date of birth to calculate age.
About This Tool
Measure the calendar difference between a date of birth and today or another target date. The result separates completed years, months, and days while also showing total elapsed days and birthday information, which is useful when a simple whole-year age is not enough.
How To Use It
- Enter the date of birth.
- Keep the target date as today or choose another date.
- Review completed years, remaining calendar months and days, total elapsed days, and next-birthday information.
- Use a target date for age-on-date questions such as applications, events, eligibility checks, or historical records.
Examples
Calculate current age
Enter a birth date and leave the target date set to today to see completed years plus the remaining calendar months and days.
Age on a future date
Set a future target date to check how old someone will be on an event, renewal, enrollment, or milestone date.
Age on a historical date
Choose a past target date that is still on or after the birth date to calculate age at the time of a previous event.
Useful Notes
Completed age versus elapsed time
A person's age in completed years changes on the birthday, while total elapsed days increases every calendar day. Those are different ways of describing the same date span.
Calendar-aware months and years
The calculation follows real calendar boundaries rather than assuming every month has 30 days or every year has 365 days.
Leap-day birthdays
For February 29 birthdays, non-leap-year birthday checks use February 28 so the next-birthday information remains meaningful.
Local date handling
The tool works with local calendar dates rather than treating a birthday as a UTC timestamp, helping avoid timezone shifts around midnight.
FAQ
Can I calculate age on a past or future date?
Yes. Choose any target date on or after the birth date.
Does it count total days exactly?
Yes. Total days are calculated from local calendar dates between the selected birth and target dates.
Why can months and days look different from dividing total days?
Calendar months have different lengths. The years-months-days result follows calendar boundaries, while total days is a raw elapsed-day count.
Can I enter a target date before the birth date?
No. Age is only defined here for target dates on or after the entered date of birth.
