About This Tool
Measure the calendar difference between a date of birth and today or another target date. The result separates completed years, months, and days while also showing total elapsed days, total weeks, total months, and next-birthday information. That makes the calculator useful for everyday birthday questions, age-on-date checks, records, applications, school or event planning, and situations where a simple whole-year age is not enough.

Useful Notes
Completed age versus elapsed time
A person's age in completed years changes on the birthday, while total elapsed days increases every calendar day. Those are different ways of describing the same date span.
Calendar-aware months and years
The calculation follows real calendar boundaries rather than assuming every month has 30 days or every year has 365 days.
How total months are counted
Total months are counted as completed calendar months: completed years multiplied by 12, plus the remaining completed months. Extra days beyond the last completed month are shown separately and are not converted into a fractional month.
Leap-day birthdays
For February 29 birthdays, non-leap-year birthday checks use February 28 so the next-birthday information remains meaningful.
Local date handling
The tool works with local calendar dates rather than treating a birthday as a UTC timestamp, helping avoid timezone shifts around midnight. If two people in different time zones open the page near midnight, their default target date may differ because each browser uses its own local date.
Official age rules can differ
This calculator answers a date-math question. Official age rules for enrollment, voting, retirement, benefits, insurance, consent, sports eligibility, or legal deadlines may define cutoffs differently, require documentation, or use jurisdiction-specific rules. Yes. Choose any target date on or after the birth date.
Does it count total days exactly?
Yes. Total days are calculated from local calendar dates between the selected birth and target dates.
Why can months and days look different from dividing total days?
Calendar months have different lengths. The years-months-days result follows calendar boundaries, while total days is a raw elapsed-day count.
How are February 29 birthdays handled?
For next-birthday and completed-year checks in non-leap years, the tool uses February 28 for a February 29 birth date. Different organizations may use their own legal or administrative rule for official eligibility.
Can I enter a target date before the birth date?
No. Age is only defined here for target dates on or after the entered date of birth.
Does this prove eligibility for school, benefits, or legal deadlines?
